Preservation Series: Means, Methods & Materials- 19th-Century Brick Masonry Structures

TESTING & INVESTIGATION FOR 19th CENTURY BRICK MASONRY STRUCTURES

presented by: John Evans, AIA, Director of Historic Preservation, LGA Partners, Pittsburgh, PA

The restoration and repair of 19th-century brick masonry structures presents a variety of challenges to preservation architects and conservators.  In particular, brick structures built in rural areas, with local materials and non-standard construction techniques, can be difficult to assess and treat.  This webinar will explore how a properly designed program of testing and selective examination can inform treatment approach, using case studies such as Bentley Hall (Meadville, PA) and Old Main (Lancaster, PA).
