January 2023 Newsletter

Happy New Year APT-DVC members! I am writing on behalf of the Board of Directors to update you on recent and future activities that may be of interest. As incoming Chair, my first order of business is to thank outgoing Chair Casey Weisdock for her leadership and service over the past few years. Casey will remain on the Board as Chair Emeritus to help insure a smooth transition as we head into 2023.

Last year was a busy one for our Chapter. We started the year in a still mostly virtual world, and engaged our members with a variety of online case study presentations, some of which included Continuing Education credit opportunities. During the warmer months, we held a series of monthly workshops to highlight regional craft practitioners in our "Traditional Craft Revisited" program. Finally, October brought the sold out, 2 day Rowhouse City symposium, which was held at Weitzman School of Design with our University of Pennsylvania partners. Hopefully, you were aware of and participated in some of these events.

This year, we will welcome 2 new Board members, who will be announced and formally join the Board at our upcoming Annual Meeting, to be held February 22nd at 6pm, at Victory Brewing on the Parkway. I hope you can join us there. (If you haven’t already, please a moment to RSVP here). During the meeting, we will introduce the Board and describe some of the ideas we have for 2023, which include more virtual learning opportunities, visits to local preservation-based sites, and several social and networking events.

I also want to encourage you, as members, to participate in the direction of the organization, by attending a Board meeting (which we hope to increasingly hold in person), or by submitting your ideas for areas of interest to you, so that we can better incorporate them into our plans.

Thank you for your support, and I hope to hear from you this year.

Chuck DiSanto, Chair
