September 2023 Newsletter

Hello all!

In what I hope will become a regular offering, I am writing to provide a recap of APT-DVC events and activities since our last newsletter.  I, for one, am always happy to see summer come to an end, as Fall is my favorite season, but we managed to pull off a few fun and informative bits of programming during the past several months.

Our virtual Preservation lunch and learn series, "Materials, Means and Methods", continues and has been well attended.  Each talk is recorded and we will keep the most recent presentations on our website for members who may have missed them. These talks, which are typically held the last Friday of each month at noon, will conclude at the end of the year with a deep dive study of Rowhouse Materiality. You can register for the upcoming talks here

Our August Board meeting was held in person at Parks on Tap in Matthias Baldwin Park, where most of the Board were joined by several local members and a good time was had by all!

We are also excited to bring the Schuylkill River boat tour and lecture back, after a several year hiatus. This 2 hour cruise on Wednesday September 20th is a great chance to meet other members and learn about recent developments along the riverfront, while sipping a drink in a beautiful setting. Registration is set up and can be accessed here.

We will continue to keep members informed of other newsworthy events, including those from APT International and neighbor chapters, as well as regional preservation groups. It's important to support each other in our preservation efforts, and it's always good to network!

I hope everyone has a pleasant Fall.
